Understanding housing flags

How buying an FC plot affects your other characters, and why one account can have multiple FC houses.

What a housing flag means

“Housing flag” is a community term for the FC plot-purchase restriction. If a character bought an FC plot and is still in that FC, other characters on the same service account and World cannot purchase another FC plot. This applies to FC plots purchased after Patch 4.2; older holdings are treated separately.

Buying plots on your account

Situation What it means
Your character buys a plot and stays in that FC Your other characters on the same service account and World cannot purchase another FC plot.
That character leaves the FC Your characters can purchase another FC plot on that World, provided they meet the other purchase requirements.

Why people can have multiple FC houses

Taking over an FC whose plot was purchased on someone else’s account does not flag your account. Someone else’s purchase restriction does not carry over to you when you receive leadership.

If you buy a plot yourself, the purchasing character can leave while another of your characters stays to keep the FC. Your account can then purchase another FC plot on that World, subject to the usual requirements.

These are ways one account can have multiple estate-owning FCs. Each FC still holds only one plot.

Personal housing is separate

Personal housing has its own purchase restrictions. See the official housing guide for the full rules.
